House Expands Definition of Hate Crimes

The House voted overwhelmingly to expand federal definition of hate crimes to include crimes committed because of the victim’s sexual orientation. Since hate crimes are especially degrading and psychologically harmful to the victim and have broad negative externalities society, they are punished more severely. This vote by the House makes LGBTQI people more equal under the law, and we wholly support it.

The scoreboard has not yet been updated to reflect points earned and lost.
