Moran “Margaret” Cho
Today’s Funny Valentine is Margaret Cho. The Korean San Francisco native first caught my eye when she starred in her own sitcom on ABC called “All American Girl“, sure I was only 9 years old at the time but there was something about Cho that made me wish I was 17 years older. She also sparked my affinity for Asian women.
To me, Margaret’s appearance and comedic material screams sex. In her stand-up she ”critiques social and political problems, especially those pertaining to race, sexuality, and sex.” It’s that hint of sociopolitical awareness that draws me even further into Cho. But she’s more than a comedian; “She has frequently supported LGBT rights and has won awards for her humanitarian efforts on behalf of women, Asians, and the LGBT community.”
