As you may have heard, a few months back Equality California announced that they would wait until 2012 to push to overturn Proposition 8. Granted, this was after they’d raised $1 million dollars by saying they were going back to the ballot in 2010… but facts are pesky things.
More recently a group called Love Honor Cherish launched a grassroots, web-based effort to collect signatures for a 2010 initiative. Using social networking they appear to be trying to be the first all-volunteer effort to put a proposition before the voters in California.
Now that effort just lost a little more steam as both the Obama-inspired Courage Campaign and the advocacy group Lambda Legal both announced today that they, too, would be waiting until 2012 to attempt to repeal Prop 8. All this after a poll released recently showed 51% of Californians support marriage equality but nearly three out of five said they didn’t want to revisit the issue in 2010.
