10 Tips For A Happier Day!

I woke up this morning to a not so pleasant email, to grouchy kids who were having a rough morning and a bit of a clothing crisis. Seemed like from every direction people were trying to pull me into a low confidence, unhappy, craptastic Friday. I figured out a long time ago that life is much better and that I can live much happier if I stay positive, love myself and don’t let anyone rain on my parade and I thought no better time then to share a few tips to having a happier day to all of you!

1. Don’t hit the snooze- We all hate it when that alarm blares at 6am and I even struggle sometimes to not slap the snooze for a few more z’s, but this is the worst thing you can do for yourself. You have already been woken up from your REM state and there is no way you are getting it back, the 5, 10, 0r for some of you 30 minutes of extra sleep will make your more tired, not too mention then you are running behind, could potentionally be late for work (a sure day ruiner) and sometimes have to skip things that make you feel better like long showers and balanced breakfasts. I try to each day pop out of bed  like a strawberry pop start, hit the shower and next thing I know i’m wide awake an feeling great!

2. Sing In The Shower, or listen to the radio while getting ready or driving to work-Music is a wonderful thing. If I start my day off with a great pick me up song it puts an extra spring in my step. Sometimes I enjoy a bit of quiet while getting ready but no matter what I blast the tunes in my car in the morning. Sing out no matter how great your voice is to a song you know and love and get to work feeling fabulous!

3. Dress To Impress- I always try to look my best for working, skipping out on parts of my routine can be detrimental to my happiness. Its import to wear things that make you feel sexy and powerful, that fit you in a comfortable way and that make you feel fierce all day long.

4. Smile- It sounds simple but for some of us its a hard thing to do before 10am. It has been proven that if we act happy we will be happy its called “self-perception theory”. Once your happy pass it on to others. Send your family out the door with a smile and good adittude and help them to have a great day and smile at the grouchy coworker every chance you get. Spread the happy wealth, it will make you feel even better!

5. Look for good, push away the bad-At the end of each day I write down something that I am greatful for from the day. This helps to identify the good things and start thinking more positively in general. In the morning I revist what I wrote down and it helps me start the day on a positive note.

6.Move your body- Get up and walk around a little bit. If I’m feeling the grouch coming around I take a break from my desk and go for a walk outside. There is something about some fresh air and the break from grind, you will come back refreshed and happy ready to focus.

7. Laugh At Life- Something go wrong in your day? Laugh it off, sometimes a little hitch in the day has the power to completely kill a good happiness buzz. Find the humor when you can in something unpleasant and just laugh!

8. Help Others- Nothing is better for your state of mind then to do something nice for someone else. I try to do this on a daily basis. It can be as simple as making your partner’s lunch so they don’t have to, to picking up the tab for the person behind you at Starbucks. If you brighten someone else’s day, it is inevitable that yours will brighten up as well!

9.Eat- Don’t skip  breakfast or lunch, nothing can make a day drag on longer and seem less energized and unhappy then growling stomach. Take the time to nurish your body, it will make you function better, give you more energy, and is a break in your day. Slammed at work and no time for lunch? Keep something easy to make and quick to eat in your desk, mine has Wheat Thins, cans of soup and oatmeal in it. By having an emergency stash you will be taken care of even on the busiest of days.

10. Know That You Deserve To Be Happy- For some people no matter what steps they take happiness just isnt obtainable because they don’t think they deserve it, but we all deserve to have a good happy life!  If you are one of these people the best think you can do for yourself is remind yourself daily that you deserve to be happy, that you are fabulous, smart, sexy, funny, everything you  are!
